Old Books!

You know I'm a book hoarder. I especially love old books! Well just look at what Meme brought back from Roddy's grandmother's house...

I could hardly wait to go through them!

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin...

I can't find copywrite or print dates in all of them so I'm going to do some research online. But I know they are at least 50 years old.

This one much older...

Look at the phone number on this homemade cover...

The ones I'm super excited about are Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott...

Christmas Stories by Charles Dickens...
which includes A Christmas Carol...
And these...Travels of Marco Polo, A Tale of Two Cities, Shakespeare's Masterpieces, and others...

And isn't this one interesting?

Love the layout and detail of this one...

THANKS, MEME!!! I'm going to find a special place to keep them!

Disney

One day of our vacation a friend of ours got us into Disney.

Iris watching a parade...

Driving on the race track with Jackson...
Meme and Gray...

Getting sick on the tea cups...

Pirating with Captain Jack...
(they don't even know who he is but it was a funny show.)

The end of the day...now time for ice cream!

Boating to the ice cream shop...

Thanks Papa and Meme for a great vacation!

Summer Vacation

Every year for at least the last 5 years, Roddy's parents have treated us to a summer vacation. For a couple of years we took it in September but the last 3 years we've gone in May.

And that's where we were last week. Usually one of the children learns to swim like a fish. This year was Iris' turn.
Meme leading the parade...
Papa chillin' in the sun with Charlie...

Roddy, the human float...
One day our friends came to visit...(I know we can see them any time but neither of us owns a pool so it was something different.)

Withdrawal

I'm going through withdrawal! It started this morning just thinking about being away from my children!!

My awesome in-laws asked the kids to go camping with them. They have an RV and our friend, Kevin, got them a spot at the The Wilderness Lodge at Disney. I dropped them off this (Tuesday) afternoon. Thursday Kevin's getting them in to Disney. And Friday morning I get to pick them up.

They always have such a great time.

What am I going to do, you ask? Well, while I'm not drying my tears, I have 10 chairs that I started refinishing during our Winter break that I am determined to finish. If I actually get those finished, I have a gift card from Christmas to my favorite clothing store that I'd like to use.

Thursday night, before my Bible study, Roddy's going to take me out on a date. He says it's a surprise and he's got it all planned out.

And hopefully I'll get some posting in, too.

So if you think of me, pray for safety for my sweet children. They'll be swimming at the pool, playing in the water and fishing at the lake and, of course, a whole day at Disney. I'm not a worrier. I prefer to pray to the only One who really protects them.

Our Garden

After the boys' flag football game Saturday morning, Roddy's parent's (Meme and Papa) and my Dad (Mom was watching my nephew) came over to help me build raised beds for a vegetable garden. We used the spot where the grass was dead from the swimming pool this summer. Iris helped Papaw build the frames.Everyone pitched in. Roddy and Papa put up a fence to keep the bunnies out. Roddy had kept the poles from the old trampoline and used them as the posts.
We didn't plant anything yet, but I have the seeds and several plants to go in later this week.

The finished product was more than I even expected! I'm so excited. Thanks Meme, Papa, Dad and Roddy, Emma, Iris, Gray, Jackson and Charlie for all your help!
