A Parents' Daily Prayer
I love Scripture and the Lord loves to hear us using it in our prayers to Him. Here is a prayer I wrote for a parenting class we taught a while back...

Obsessed
We are absolutely obsessed with our eagles. They live about 2 miles from our house. Every time we pass where they live we search for them.
This morning Momma - affectionately named Lilly - was perched in a tree near the nest while Papa aka Bud was at his usual hangout. You can see the nest in the background.
This afternoon on our way home from the zoo, I took this picture with Larry, her toddler.
When I drove around the corner to get a different shot we made an exciting discovery. Lilly actually has 2 toddlers. You may have to click on the photo to get a better look.

Hmmm...
You know the woman that just had octuplets?
It just occurred to me that all the people interviewing her and a great majority of the people that are having such a hissy fit over the matter are the same people who shout, "Women should have the right to do what they want with their bodies."
When they want to kill a baby it's okay - there is no thought for the child. But for some strange reason now they are outraged that she would put her children through such circumstances.
I just find it ridiculously interesting!

Happy Birthday, Grayson!!
Grayson is 8 years old today! 
I originally started this blog so I could brag about my children but since it's not nice to brag, I haven't really done it. Well, I'm doing it today!
This kid is awesome!!! Let me tell you just a few of the things I love about him....
He's easy-going. When he was a baby someone was holding him and asked me how he likes to be held. I said I didn't know because he never fussed no matter how you held him or didn't hold him. He's the same today. He just rolls with the punches.
He's hilarious. He likes to make people laugh. He says and does things that crack me up like no one else! He could do awesome drama if he wasn't so timid in front of people he doesn't know. At home, though, he let's loose!
He's athletic. Even early on, he would surprise us with his hand-eye coordination. He and Jay are playing a team sport for the first time - flag football - and this kid is all over the place. He's fast, he's aware. He covers defense and offense!
He's tough. He takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. When we had an above-ground pool over the summer, he'd go running full force and jump in. When the boys play ball, he gets hurt but you hardly ever hear him complain.
He's patient! A few months ago we went camping with a bunch of people from church. The kids were playing basketball and, of course, running into each other, knocking each other down, etc. Our friend pointed out that no matter what anyone did to him, he just got up and kept going. Never got mad. Never yelled at anyone or pushed back.
And he's the same way at home. It's a very rare occasion that he gets angry and lashes out at someone.
He's obedient. He's the first to say, "Yes, Ma'am" or "Yes, Sir" when we've asked the kids to do something.
He doesn't complain. I had no idea he didn't like green beans because he never complained about them. (Of course, we teach them all not to complain about their food, but you still usually know when they don't care for something.)
He's creative. I love it when he has a little writing assignment with school because his stories are so animated and fun.
He's loving and unselfish. He's great about sharing anything. He takes care of his siblings. He's a gentlemen and considerate. He's a terrific big brother!

Valentine's to The Grammies and Grampies
Last Thursday Mom came over to help us make Valentine's and Tissue Paper Flowers to take to the nursing home that we visited in December. 
We didn't get enough done that day so she came over again Monday to help us finish up. 
We made about 50 of each.
Yesterday we got to deliver them. 
While we were making the Valentine's, the kids started getting confused between the people at the nursing home and the homeless people.
So to clarify I started saying we were going to visit the Grammies and Grampies.

Awanas
Emma, Jackson, Charlie and Iris go to the Awanas program on Sunday nights at my parents' church. The church is through the woods right behind our house.
Almost every week there is a theme.
Last week it was Team Spirit night. We don't have any team jerseys (yet) so Emma and Jackson wore the boys' flag football jerseys and we bought these tattoos from the craft store and covered them in them. This will explain all the tattoos in the pictures for the next 2 weeks.
Another night was robot night.
There are extra kids because our friends a few houses down go too.
Grayson stays home and gets time with Mommy and Daddy because he doesn't like talking much to people he doesn't really know. Fine with me. As good a program as it is, I'd much rather have them all home with me on Sunday night. But Mom and Dad like having them there so we give the kids the option of going or not.

Our Garden
After the boys' flag football game Saturday morning, Roddy's parent's (Meme and Papa) and my Dad (Mom was watching my nephew) came over to help me build raised beds for a vegetable garden. 
We used the spot where the grass was dead from the swimming pool this summer. 
Iris helped Papaw build the frames.
Everyone pitched in. 
Roddy and Papa put up a fence to keep the bunnies out. Roddy had kept the poles from the old trampoline and used them as the posts.
We didn't plant anything yet, but I have the seeds and several plants to go in later this week.
The finished product was more than I even expected! I'm so excited. Thanks Meme, Papa, Dad and Roddy, Emma, Iris, Gray, Jackson and Charlie for all your help!
